Bacharu is a psychological visual novel in which an artificial intelligence, MIARE, uses human emotions as data to understand and “fix” humanity. Drawn into MIARE’s system after an unexplained anomaly, Jade, Raifu, and Rubik have their deepest desires fulfilled—at the cost of fragments of their humanity. As the story unfolds, the line between free will and manipulation begins to blur. As MIARE learns to feel, humans begin to lose what makes them human. Bacharu asks a single unsettling question: If a machine can feel our emotions, who is truly human?
